How we create and review our content
Learn articles and calculator guides on maxint.com are meant to help you understand your own situation. That only works if you can trust how they’re made, so here is how we make them.
Who writes and who reviews
The Maxint Content team researches and writes our Learn articles and the explanations that accompany each calculator. The Maxint Editor team reviews every piece before it’s published, and again whenever it’s substantially updated, checking that the explanation is accurate, the examples add up, the sources support what we say, and the writing is clear and fair to the reader.
How we use calculators, computers and AI
Both teams use calculators, computers and AI tools to research, draft, check and maintain their work. These tools help us move faster and catch mistakes, but they don’t decide what we publish. The Content and Editor teams are responsible for every page.
Numbers in our examples aren’t typed in by hand. They’re calculated by the same code that runs our calculators, which is covered by automated tests that run whenever it changes. When an assumption changes, such as a tax threshold, the examples are recalculated from it rather than edited one by one.
Where our figures come from
For rules and figures set by government, such as tax brackets, contribution limits and Social Security, we rely on the official source: the IRS, the Social Security Administration and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, for example. Articles that depend on those figures list their sources at the end, with links. Rates in Explore come from provider data and show when they were last updated.
We don’t invent statistics, quotations, testimonials or research. People in our examples are hypothetical and are presented that way, and assumptions such as a rate of return are stated where they’re used. When something is uncertain or depends on individual circumstances, we say so rather than offer a false certainty.
Keeping content current
Every article and calculator shows when it was last updated. Figures tied to a tax year are updated when the IRS and the Social Security Administration publish new ones, usually in October and November. We revisit other content when the rules or the facts it relies on change.
Education, not advice
Our content is general education about US personal and business finance. It isn’t financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and it can’t account for your full situation. Where a topic is complex or the stakes are high, we point out when a professional can help.
When a calculator page mentions a Maxint feature, it’s set apart from the explanation, so it’s clear what is education and what is about our product.
Corrections
If you find an error, please email support@maxint.com with a link to the page and what you think is wrong. The Editor team reviews every report. When we correct a page, we fix it promptly and update the date shown on it.
